Hello again...

I’m back. Sort of.

I’ll start the activation of my page after months of nothing with an overview of the shitshow known as 2020. It’s been a bizarre year overall & that’s an understatement. Between COVID-19 & the US Election, along with life getting upturned with minimal notice, it was a stressful year.

At the start it was fun. It was the start of a new decade alongside my wonderful husband (also known as my best friend). We had been lucky to get tickets to the Slipknot concert being held at the O2 & it was amazing. Intense & wonderful (especially seeing Eliot in that environment!).

I can’t remember much about February if im honest, other than Eliot being quite ill shortly after I had been ill. We thought it was just a very, very aggressive flu. Unbearable pains, coughs, fevers, staying at home - the whole lot.

Come March we realised life was going to be turned into the film ‘Contagion’... We had been keeping an eye on the slowly spreading virus but decided to try and continue life as normal. We had been out for dinner at Piazza Firenze (they feature prominently in our life!) when the announcement of a nationwide lockdown was announced. That’s when it suddenly became “real”.

I understand how lucky I am that my immediate family hasn’t had a run in with the pandemic in the way many others have had. Although mind you... in hindsight we suspect we may have had a nasty run-in with COVID before it properly spread.

We are on the introverted side of the scale so we were able to adjust without too much of a difference in our daily life.

We still had each other. We still called our parents (one lot being in Whitehaven & one lot being in California). Sure we missed countless dates at the Royal Albert Hall & the Alejandro Fernandez concert scheduled to be in Hammersmith but we can’t really complain.

One complaint though is not being able to fly to California for Christmas 2020. I briefly saw my mother & family in June when I flew to San Diego due to one hell of a family emergency. That was very stressful.

We are both lucky enough to be able to work from home. It was a little bit hard to adjust to the new routine and I started it off with a few seizures.

I had to learn to separate personal life/personal space from my work space. I got there in the end. I eventually swapped work spots with Eliot and am now in the room known as our ‘library’.

There aren’t many good things to come out of 2020 but we can think of a few:
1) Our 4th wedding anniversary
2) read countless books
3) watched countless films and tv shows
4) a huge amount of crocheting done
5) Joe Biden & Kamala Harris being my new President & Vice-President (that deserves a post on its own!) And most importantly,
6) being in relatively good health

The future of this blog will shine light on my crochet projects, random adventures & thoughts, and 🦆 & his friends.

Until next time!
